9-11 Attack On America Contact Info

By Damon Marturion
New Business News Staff Writer

I cannot find the words to express my complex mixture of feelings of sadness and anger concerning the 9-11 Attack on America. My soul yearns as an American and aches with the loss that we suffered as individuals and collectively.

It is amazing to me, as I watch broadcasts of the events as they unfold that I - and most all Americans - are only, "1 click away," from being victimized directly by this act of terrorism. This is to say that, if you did not know someone who either is missing or witnessed the event, it is likely that you know someone who knows someone.

My heartfelt prayers are with all victims, their friends and family. As helpless as we feel, I hope that the following important contact information will be helpful to other Americans as we survive the horrific events of this day.

The Official Missing Families Report can be accessed online at http://www.wtcfamilies.org.

University of California at Berkeley's WTC and Pentagon attack Survivor Reports. A free service to report or inquire as to one's safety.

The United Way of New York and the New York Community Trust have established a fund to help the victims of the attacks and their families. The September Eleventh Fund will provide immediate support to established emergency assistance agencies. Anyone wishing to contribute may send their donations in care of United Way, 2 Park Ave, New York, New York, 10016 or call: 212-251-4035.

Donations are also being accepted on United Way of New York City's Web site: http://www.uwnyc.org.

American Red Cross, cash donations: (800) HELP-NOW

Salvation Army, cash donations: (800) SAL-ARMY

Help is also being sought by FEMA Headquarters: Check out http://www.fema.gov/r-n-r/help2.htm for more information how you can help.

All trained medical personnel willing to go into Manhattan to assist victims and emergency workers may call 516-656-9254 or 516-656-9252. The City of Glen Cove, New York is coordinated transportation of medical personnel via ferry to Manhattan.

The American Red Cross is in need of blood to replenish the nation's supply. Call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to schedule an appointment near where you live.

Friends and family who wish to check on passengers and flights may call:

  • American Airlines, 1-800-245-0999
  • United Airlines, 1-800-932-8555

FBI tip Web site: http://www.ifccfbi.gov

Report Attacks FBI Hotline: 866-483-5137

The Federal Aviation Authority has provided information on all U.S. air travel and the flights involved in these incidents, provided by Travelocity at http://www.travelocity.com/info/cust_alert/.

TellMe has initiated a voice-activated toll-free Air Travel Advisory Hotline at 1-877-322-9438. Anyone in the U.S. can check the status of airports nationwide, hear the new national airport security policies or listen to the latest statement from the Secretary of Transportation. (Since many Americans do not have access to the Internet, for some this will be the only way to get on-demand nationwide information on airport openings and closures and hear important new airport policies.)

We ask that if there is anything that you can do, please help! Donation, Volunteer, Flight Information, and FBI hotline/website if you have any information on these tragic events.
