New Long Distance Plan Modeled After That of New Parent Company, VarTec Telecom
DALLAS - Excel Communications announced today the launch of Nickel Nation, a new long distance calling plan offering residential customers a rate of five cents per minute to and from any of the 50 United States and to Canada. The competitive plan is being introduced in conjunction with the finalization of Excel's acquisition by VarTec Telecom, a leading provider of local and long distance services.
The long distance plan is available to all existing and new residential customers, with a monthly recurring charge of five dollars and a minimum call time of five minutes. Customers can convert to Nickel Nation from any Excel plan and can retain Excel My800 and calling card features.
``Nickel Nation offers an industry-competitive rate, ideal for customers who place many interstate and intrastate calls in particular,'' said A. Joe Mitchell Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of VarTec. ``In addition, Excel's Independent Representatives can use the new plan as a powerful acquisition and retention tool in customer-gathering and recruitment efforts.''
Nickel Nation is modeled after VarTec's most popular residential long distance plan, FiveLine®. The introduction of similar plans marks the union of Excel and VarTec Telecom's products and services, as the company drives forward with its expansion of offerings and business growth strategies.
